iPad 2: The power of dual-core

It's said that demand for the iPad 2 in the United States is 40-per-cent higher than it was for the iPad 1. Fortunately, I was quick to order my iPad 2 on the very first day it became available at Apple Store. So now I've got my hands on it.
On the outside, the iPad 2 comes with a 9.7-inch, 1024 x 768 pixels display, the same size as that of the iPad 1. It looks very similar to the iPad 1 at a very quick glance. However, a closer look will reveal that the newcomer is much thinner (Apple has squeezed the iPad 2 down to 8.8mm. The iPad 1 was 13.4mm thick).
If you think you might buy an iPad 2 for its cameras, I would suggest that you rethink. Simply put, the iPad 2's cameras are really bad. The one in the back has only about 920,000 pixels, which is fine for taking HD (720p) videos, but not for still images. The front-facing camera is a lowly VGA cam, only suited for something like FaceTime calls.
Although most of the changes on the outside are merely cosmetic, things on the inside get a lot of improvement. There is a new dual-core Apple A5 CPU, plenty of RAM (512MB) and a new PowerVR SGX543MP2 dual-core GPU. This is why Apple boasted about the iPad 2's CPU performance being two times faster, and nine times faster on graphic performance. You can expect a great gaming experience on the iPad 2, but you may have to wait for a few months before games are taking advantage of the new hardware.
Is iPad 2 worth upgrading?
Anandtech.com (http://bit.ly/iPad2Nation) revealed promising results when it posted iPad 2's GPU performance benchmark. Although we can conclude that it is nine times faster than the original iPad, we learned that the more complex the graphics, the larger gap in performance we can see.
IPad 2's "Smart Cover" accessory really brought out the "Wow!" The built-in magnets inside both Smart Cover and iPad 2 make it easy to attach them together without the need for screws. Smart Cover not only protects your iPad 2's screen, but when folded it can also be used as a FaceTime/video stand or keyboard stand. I also discovered that it can be used as a handle when shooting vertical still images or video.
You can also use the Smart Cover to put your iPad 2 into sleep mode without having to press the sleep/wake button.
As with the original iPad, the iPad 2 is available in various models, with prices ranging from $499 (Bt15,045) for 16GB of internal storage and Wi-Fi only to $829 for the 64GB, 3G plus Wi-Fi version.
